The river house is located on a
tiny bank on the Rappahannock River known as Naylor's Beach. This year
marked the first of what they plan to be an
annual
triathlon. Dan took the kayak out to get a few pictures of the early
morning start. The course wasn't marked too well (they'll do better next
time) and when Dan paddled off to get pictures somewhere else, the lady on the
public address system yelled at him to get the swimmers back in-line! So
along with Shannon and
McCrae he helped keep the wayward swimmers on
the short line and then was off to watch them cycle and run their through the
little country roads around us. The bike portion was right in front of the
house and the transition area was just 20 yards away so it was fun to see
everyone coming right up and make a mad dash to drop off their bikes.
Nicely done, especially for a first time event!
