We went to Charlotte with one goal:  finish the weekend.  After the wreck at VIR we were just focused on trying to get the car back together so could get the points and lock up the spec Cobra season championship.  For Bobbie, it was a chance to practice some newfound skills and play on this great track.  When we got the Cobra back on Thursday night, we discovered a severe engine problem.  That meant that we couldn't really compete for the win despite the big field and our west coast buddies coming to play.

For the weekend we had a tough time with the Cobra.  It wouldn't produce power and shook as you pushed on the accelerator.  We frankly didn't expect it to make it through the weekend.  For the Saturday race we just drove around and got lucky with almost the entire field going out with problems.  We won second place.  Ok, not we didn't.  We stole second place.  As we told someone later in the weekend, it wasn't an honorable second second place.  But it did clinch the season points championship which was our whole reason for making the trip.

Sunday the engine ran even worse.  It was putting oil inside the car.  At one point, I took it out to test and the hot oil burned my foot.  When the green flag dropped we got an incredible start and very briefly took the lead.  But it was short lived as I got passed.  We ended up finishing the race, but it had to be the most disappointing "race" I have run in my short career.  I love the track at Charlotte and it was frustrating to be just running around slowly waiting for the race to end.  Sometimes you just have to remain focused.  We did end up as the only car to finish both races.  Now we'll work to get the car rebuilt and go from there.

One more note:  We usually have time to take most of the pics and our friends at Euroimage share some of the on-track shots.  This time, nearly all of the on-track shots are courtesy of Euroimage.
