Fall Classic at Summit Point
Talk about frustrating. After numerous
problems with the Cobra engine over the last month, we picked up the car (with
yet another rebuild) on Friday and headed to the track. Let's make a long
story short: the engine failed on the first lap. A new engine
arrived sometime after midnight on Saturday. We put it in and promptly
blew it up on the first lap of qualifying. Noooooot fun! Four blown
engines in just four weeks. Grrr. The good news is that Bobbie
drove her pink car very well. She got her solo endorsement and had a fun
time playing.
Later, Dan took the pink car out and got a
hard-fought win against Jim Thill.
We weren't the only ones having trouble: Ed
from Orlando took his beautiful Cobra out, but ended up in the trees while Harry
was playing instructor. Miraculously, the car was not seriously hurt (and
neither were the occupants). Fellow Cobra-owner Terry Shank brought out
some amazing new fiberglass repair kit and basically put the car together in no
time. Rob Mau had brake problems and nearly set his car on fire.
