Ugh. It was billed as the VIR Summer Slam. Little did we know.

Bobbie took delivery of her new Porsche 944 Cup car at the track for the VIR weekend. After some minor adjustments, she was in her race doing fairly well when she got hit by another car and spun hard into the guardrail. It was a pretty jarring hit and they ended up transporting her to the local hospital for X-rays and tests after some pain in her neck and spine. Fortunately she will recover and the car will eventually be repaired.

Life with the Cobra was just ok. Qualifying wasn't exceptional as we fought with the suspension and some poor driving skills. Ironically, Dan had played on track instructor for the licensing school on Friday and ran faster than he ran the rest of the weekend. Dan had a good start on Sunday and moved from 5th to 3rd within the first four turns, but a whopping three spins left him to consolidate his finish and hold on to fifth in class and uninspiring 24th overall (our worst finish with a competitive race car in nearly two years). Frustrating not to be able to get the car around the track, but by then it just made sense to finish the race, come home, and live to race another day. Just a little time to try to get the car sorted for Nationals.
