After last's year's Summer Slam at VIR that sent Bobbie to the hospital, we were looking forward to a little easier weekend.  With her driving skills showing her capable of running in the top 10, Bobbie was determined to learn the art of wheel to wheel racing and try to pick up some positions.  For Dan, it was a little practice on a part of the track that will be used for the upcoming Factory Five Nationals.

Bobbie's Saturday race had a great start, but she ended up giving away some spots in traffic and settled for 16th place with old race tires.  While everyone else was running new tires on Sunday, Bobbie was stuck with her old tires.  Worse - she would start from the back since a screw (value:  about a nickel) came off and shut down the engine.  This time her start wasn't quite as good, but she still moved up until the engine blew up with less than one lap to go.  Looks like the pink car will need another engine so it won't be making the trip to Road Atlanta.

Dan had a little more success as he picked up a Saturday class and challenged the leaders for a strong overall finish.  On Sunday, lapped traffic played a role and he ended up settling for 4th place overall, but with the class win again.  It has been two years since Team Elam won a race with the Cobra:  hopefully it won't take as long to get another one!
