NASA's Hyperfest weekend at Summit Point is always special and fun, no matter how the racing turns out. That is because the weekend also includes fireworks, the Daisy Dukes contest, drifting, and more. As for the racing, this was the weekend we would really challenge with the new Cobra and it performed pretty well by moving to first place on Saturday before a red flag ended the race early and moved Dan back to second. On Sunday Dan tested some things in qualifying and ran out of time to get a fast enough lap to put him ahead of some Mustangs and that meant he could never challenge for the lead and finished a respectable third.
Bobbie had a tougher weekend with
a really severe cold and some frustration on the track. On Saturday she
moved up through the field before a late spin cost her some track position.
Once again she had a faster lap time than several of the cars around her.
For Sunday, her crew (Dan) forgot to put up the window net and she was
black-flagged to come into the pits to fix it. Despite the valuable lost
time, she managed to get ahead of some, but was disappointed with her 14th place
finish.
BTW, Doug took most of the pictures by Chris Schutze also took a few.
