You can't make this stuff up. With attendance usually between 25,000 and 40,000 people, the limited intelligence people at City Celebrations decided to cancel the Easter celebrations. More accurately, they decided to postpone it a week because they thought it might rain. Now, Easter is a big deal on this street with the residents probably spending close to $250,000 on decorations, caterers, etc. They seem to think that it's just convenient to rearrange the calendar and the residents of Monument Avenue (who have to approve the closing of the street) will just follow along. The result was an almost surreal day - people still came out and walked along the street, but traffic flew by and people scratched their heads in confusion. Meanwhile, at the Elam house we still had a nice crowd and everyone had a fun time.
By the way.... it didn't rain.
