Bobbie and Daniel Drive Cross Country
We loaded up the wagontrain on Wednesday the 27th of February to head West. Things got off to a bit of a late start, as the truck wasnt ready at the shop on time. We were able to leave Richmond around 12:30 and began our first day. We passed the lovely Hungry Mother State Park as well as the Frozen Head State Park. Knoxville was a blur of billboards for fireworks and the Hoe, Row and Mow show. We also passed through Bucksnort, TN. There was a hand-painted sign by the road when said Bucksnort.com. Im sure thats worth a look. It was 13 degrees when we arrived in Nashville for the night.
Day two saw us driving through Little Rock and seeing signs for the Toad Suck State Park. (Turns out that Toad Suck Daze are very well known.) After a 15.5 hour day (which included some stops), we made it as far Shamrock, TX and, appropriately enough, the Irish Inn. We opened the door to our room to discover that there were TWO (2) lazyboys awaiting us! We had dined earlier at the Pig Out Palace. Only award-winning restaurants on this leg of the trip
Day three had us up and having breakfast at the Irish Inn. There was a table of be-wigged women beside us having their morning prayers. Of course, the prayers ended straightaway when fresh biscuits were put out on the buffet! These women were big for the glory of God, by God. As Daniel read the morning paper, I couldnt help myself I had to listen in on their conversation. On exceptionally huge women announced that God doesnt want people to harbor lies so that was why she had to tell Mary at her church that she was a terrible piano player. Not sure which bible verse says its OK to be rude, but these women knew it!
